Do you need a visa to go to austria?

Depends on your country of origin. As a rule, yes, but there are numerous exceptions for short-term (up to 90 days) tourists from the US and some other coutnries. Only EU citizens don't need a visa, ever. Actually, a visa for on of the so-called "Schengen" states, of which Austria is one, will permit you to travel to all the other states, too. Border controls within Europe are largely a thing of the past.

Well, when you're from the U.S., Canada, Australia, EU countries you don't need a visa for Austria for 90 days, for more than 90 days, you also need a visa for Austria (not neccessary if you're from an EU country)...For all other countries, you should contact the Austrian Embassy in your country and ask them...
