Folklore in Austria?

I am going to Austria next month, Do they have any kind of gypsy dance shows, or some kind of faire where gypsies perform and trade?

There are some gipsy villages in the Burgenland, which is the easternmost part of Austria close to the Hungarian border. Do not expect colourful gipsy villages as you know them from the movies - the gipsies in Austria mostly live in a poor, dirty surrounding. If there are any gipsy events they are mainly not organized by the gipsy population (apx. 2500 persons in Burgenland) but by other culture groups, so they are not authentic to the life of the Austrian gipsies.
Sorry to say but the gipsies in Austria are mostly not integrated to the Austrian communities and due to their life style many Austrians dislike them.
There is a very rich selection of Austrian traditional music and dancing with a big variety depending on the area where you stay. However, the gipsy culture is mainly not a part of it.
Hopefully you will enjoy your stay in Austria even without gipsy performances...

Sorry, but in Austria are no gypsy dance shows. We have not very much Gypsy's in Austria which do perform and trade.

I stayed in the hotel that once was the Lowenbrau Hotel (once the original beer company) in Oberndorf. Underneath my hotel window I heard some beautiful music, so I opened the windows and below was a camp of gypsy's. It was wonderful. They were playing music and dancing and there was even a wagon. I was there when I was a teen and my grandfather is very scared of gypsies. He's afraid they will steal us. Besides I was very tired because we'd been touring all day and we were headed for a day of more touring in Vienna and a night of partying, so I let the songs of the gypsies put me to sleep. But, I know that they are there in Oberndorf.
