Has Anyone Bought a home in BELIZE?

Has anyone been to Belize, longer than 3 months, and/or bought a home there? ...most specifically, the Cayo District (Ignacio, Santa Elena, Unitedville, etc.)

If so, I need as MUCH information as possible, as soon as possible!

Thanks SO much for helping me out!!! :)

My wife and I moved to Belize about two year ago and purchased a house in Belmopan (Cayo District) after being here about four months. There are several thoughts that come to mind. The first is that you do have to be careful. We know people that have moved to Belize and lost $10,000 USD and more on real estate. We were lucky and found someone that helped us avoid making a very bad purchase and aided us in purchasing the house that we live in today. His info is below:

Mr. Calvin Neal
2 Belize Street
P.O. Box 243
Belmopan
501-822-2709
belrealtor@btl.net

He was easy to work with and very straight-forward.

Another thing is that real estate values are going up in many parts of the country. If you want to purchase some property sooner is better then later.

One problem that we had is that there is no easy way to find out what property is available in an area or how much properties in an area have sold for recently. It is important to do your research before hand and find out what things are selling for before you purchase. We did some of this by getting to know several real estate people in the area we were interested in.

That is about it. If you have any other specific questions feel free to write.

That's a good question, but unfortunately I don't have a good answer.

what tyrpe of need do you need? ill send you an email on this and recoomend someone from belize.
