What are nice warm tropical places to go to this time of year?

My mom, sister and I would like to go somewhere nice and warm on Wednesday with nice beaches and everything. But the places we chose were not that good like Costa Rica. We would hane to drive a few hours to go to the coast if we went there. Are there any tropical islands you suggest we go to. Not to far from the US with great hotels and beaches.
