Is berlin expensive????

Everything's relative. Traveling in Europe is never cheap, but as big cities go, Berlin is, I believe, one of the least expensive large cities in Europe. Well, it's certainly got one of the most affordable costs for living. According to my lonely planet guide, you can travel Germany on a budget of 25-55 euro a day. Are you a student/youth? You can stay in youth hostels for as low as 14 to 15 euro a night (around 21 American dollars or so).

If you really are interested in seeing Berlin and want to do it on a budget, get a travel book from your bookstore. Personally, I love the Lonely Planet. It will give you price estimates and make recommendations for inexpensive (and safe!) places to stay, eat, etc. It has never let me down.

As per f..usual most big citys are more expensive than villages or smaller citys but Berlin is exception of the rule.

Depends on what you want to do there or to buy there... compared to other German cities Berlin is not much more expensive than other cities. It's a bit different when it comes to renting an appartment. And of course as there are severeal possibilities to spend money in a big city life can get expensive just by the temptations...

It is one of the least expensive cities in Western Europe, and indeed in Germany. It is more expensive than Eastern Europe, and, while the dollar is so weak, than US Cities.

For all people coming from US is all Europe is expensive, because the low $ rate. But Berlin is not so bad, there is so many places you can buy cheep food, clothes and many restaurants, cafes you don't need to pay so much money. I was there four times and I didn't feel that way.
