What does "Sie sind Mittel" mean in English?

A friend left it on my Myspace page. I know it's something funny.

Well it does not seem a proper sentence but a literal translation would say You are middle, or meaning maybe you are average?? or in the middle?

As I said not a real sentence so I have to guess here the meaning.

"Sie" means "You" - the formal version - the way u would approach a "stranger"

"Du" means "you" - the way u would approach somebody u know.

At work for instance - it is usually "Sie" and last name.

mittel = middle ... (..middle of the street)

Mittel = remedy (.. gibt es da ein Mittel)

and Sie sind Mittel... doesent make any sence. Sie sind in der mitte.... maybe?

in dependence of the context (if it is a complete sentence or not):

1. Meaning:

They (Sie) are (sind) average(mittel)

2.

You (formal) are (sind) average (mittel)

btw:

MIttel (capital M) may not be right in the context here because this woul be translated with "instrument" or as mentioned "remedy" and would have needed (in clear standard german) an indefinite article f.e. "ein".

He means you with this answer. And I think he means, that you are in the middle between 0 and 100 .. only that. In German it means your are nothing special.. not good.. not bad.. you are in the middle.
In the case of meat you call it medium.

Sorry if it is hard to understand.. but I m original german,an my english is.. in the middle.. ;-))

Well, does your friend speak German? Because this isn't really a sentence... You could translate it as
Sie - You
sind - are
mittel - medium, average

I guess the context is improtant here.
