I really need to get out of London but singles holidays cost a fortune compared to normal ones. Is it safe to?

travel alone in Europe? Went to Paris last year so that is out. Alternatively do you know any companies in UK that do singles holidays that do not rip you off (拢2137 for a 7 night cruise is way too much).

Also am 37 so not wanting to travel with Saga. Thx

You should be OK traveling alone almost anywhere if you use basic common sense.

However, consider joining SERVAS, which is a network of travelers and hosts who have passed a background check. That will give you local contacts almost anywhere you might want to go: www.servas.org

Good luck!

Club 18-30 lie about your age .

Dont know but why bother looking now!
Not that I mean bad but if you still single at 37 what's the point?

Many people travel round Europe alone. Get a good guide book for each country (you can pick them up in second hand book shops as you travel because other travellers usually leave them there). The guide book will tell you the safest places to stay, safest travel modes etc. If you decide to stay in hostels you'll meet loads of other people, and you could do some of your travelling with them.

Hope this helps.

I've travelled by myself a lot in Europe and have met females doing the same. I'd hate to be on a singles holiday: it's not my idea of a holiday. It helps if you learn some of the local language and then just be on you guard.

Amsterdam is fine and everyone speaks English. Some hassle in Moscow but nothing stolen. In Nice, attempted robbery by gypsy children. Many other places, no problem at all. Greece used to be safe but there are now problems with Albanian immigrants, as elsewhere.

Just be on your guard and you should be OK. Regarding accommodation, you can find it on the spot. What I do is leave my bag somewhere like a station locker and walk around looking for cheap hotels and B&Bs. I only had to sleep out twice: in the early 80s in Greece in the high season.

Check out hostelbookers for cheap accommodation.

Can try what I would like to do later this year (as a recuperation following surgery) - river cruise down the Danube from Munich - Budapest.

I don't have the money to travel however if i did. I'd be inclined to book the travel and the hotel myself via a web search which would be cheaper than paying a travel agent.
you could always book a double room with twin beds and book that with a friend to get over the single suplement.
assuming you want an all in package.
all you can do is do a search at a site like travelsupermarket to search for the best deal via them.
then using the information they provide look up the cost of the component parts before you book you should then save yet more money.
it depends on where you want to go.
do you want to travel to the continent or would you be happy to settle for a UK holiday again staying in the Uk could be cheaper than going abroad.
some great places exist depending on what you like to do for fun.
so think what you want from your holiday. and plan accordingly.

Solos and Travel One are both reputable companies. They are not that cheap but way less than you quote for the cruise. It's a good way to enjoy a holiday abroad and meet other singles.

I have a friend (widowed) in her 40's and she has found a Company which is for solo holiday makers only.
Have you asked Google for something like "Singles Holidays" or "Solo Holidays" or "Travelling Alone"?
P.S. I've just tried that for you - typed in "Singles Holidays" and a whole load of web sites. One mentions www.travel-quest.co.uk as being a Directory of Singles Holidays.
Best of luck.
