How do you feel about living in the UK? |
I've read Qs from people saying that they want to leave the UK and go to the States because Britain is dull and boring; some others said there are not job opportunities for them there and prefer to go somewhere else. I'm not saying they're right but it sort of surprised me. Some people even sounded as if they were not proud of being British. I'm not saying they're right or wrong, I'm asking because I'd like to know. If you are among the ones that would rather not be British or not live on the Isles what would you change from your country so that you would feel comfortable there? I'm only addressing those who feel that way, not those who are fine there. It is a sweeping statement to say that "Britain is dull and boring".Many people get confused - Britain is not just England. People who live in Wales, Scotland, NOrthern Ireland or any of the Islands seem very proud of their homes and reluctant to leave. I will live in Scotland when I'm older, because it is a lovely, beautiful place and one can get away from the rat race there. But lots of people don't like living in England, for different reasons - maybe it's the dwindling culture, or maybe it's the facvt that we're surrounded by people who hate our guts. I wish I was born Scottish - then perhaps I could be accepted there as a human, not just and English person. I love the UK. I like visiting other parts of the world. But I love it here. Yes we have some tossers but like everywhere else we have a majority of great people...of all cultures. ok Well I am proud of being British and If people find it dull here then It is because they are dull you make your own entertainment. I'm happy enough here, but I do love your country =] Until last year I was a teenager and the British media demonises them mercilessly so I wanted to leave as I've never been in any sort of illegal trouble and hated the way that people regarded me as a teenager (I still do hate the way teenagers are insulted by the media and as a consequence are often regarded with suspicion by people). Then, I realised that almost every country's media does the same. over 300 brits leave the u.k every day and thats because of the stupidly high taxes on everything, the fact that you cant drive about without some council trying to extort money out of you with 1000s of different stealth taxes, poor or no housing for many, we are over populated yet the goverment still allows more than 800 immigrants in every single day, crime is out of control and its a fact that you will have less chance of being mugged in new york than you will in london, people pour into our country to take advantage of our welfare and free n.h.s and yet the goverment will do nothing to stop this and everybody is frightened to speak the truth for being branded a racist, when its just common sense, the u.s.a have a better fairer way of life and a lot more space and not too much of this p.c rubbish that the goverment rams down our throat , i shall leave here as soon as its possible for me to leave and go to spain and i will not scrounge and i will live to thier rules and finance myself and family and will not break the law, the spanish do not tollerate scroungers and law breakers lightly, i am now ashamed to be english, we are the laughing stock of the world, I am not proud to be British and if i could i would leave tomorrow, it's the family commitments that keeps me here at the moment. My daughter has dragged her husband and family off to live in the Middle East and she thinks it is Paradise after England; I think the weather is her pet hate here and she loves to wear shorts around the house most of the year. They might have considered Australia, but her husband was working in London for an Australian Bank and they cut short his contract (which they were entitled to do) just a month before he was due to receive a bonus for hard work. So she is very anti Oz and Bankers in particular. Shame - I'd rather visit her there. How do I feel about living in the UK? I live in England. love living here. I like living here, and wouldn't change it. I live in the south of England Bournemouth, iam very pround to be english and british but yes england can seem very boring escapially comparing it with the U.S also averything is always so expensive the cost of loving is not as good the weather **** and random the chav culture is ******* annoying and i swear half the popualtion is unempolyed and on the doll, It is way to crowded for such a small country although the history is there and that what England is really all about. i am proud to be British and would not live anywhere else. I Love Britain to Bits. I've lived in the North East all my life. I love it! We have so much undiscovered beauty. The main thing we need here, is to see the back of Arriva North East, as they are useless. 90p to go less then 1 mile, honestly! Other then that, its great. I'm proud to be English! I've never lived there but I've known quite a few Brits and I'd love to visit the UK. |
