Anyone here live in Nova Scotia? |
I am supposed to be moving close to Halifax in about a year when I finish my exams. Whats it like? I grew up there and went to University there. It is a seaport on the shores of the Atlantic ocean, cool summers with cold winters and a lot of snow. Largest ice free natural harbour in North America. Home to 7 universities and military bases (known durin WWII as the Warden of the North as thounsnds of shoips congregated there for convoys to Russia and Europe. Site of the 1917 Halifax Explosion when two ships collided and caused the biggest explosion prior to the atomic bomb. Lots of golf courses, sking in the valley, incredible scenery, close to World Heritage sites like Lunenburg. My family has been in Halifax since late 1800's. I love it! Like another poster said, the weather is mild - not too cold in Winter (though it is right now!), not too hot in Summer. I USED TO LIVE THERE ....I WENT AWAY 26 YEARS AGO AND AFTER ALL THIS TIME I STILL MISS IT...IT'S A GREAT PLACE oh i live in halifax! its great compared to most of canada it never really gets that cold, there are lots of things to do, the schools and universities are nice too, youll totally LOVE it! Theres somthing for everyone in halifax, shopping museums everthing its great! also the biggest city in the marritime provinces. I live about an hour from Halifax, its a pretty nice town, quite a bit of stuff to do, especially if you like going to Pubs and what not. And there's lots of nice spots across the province that aren't too far to drive to. As long as you stay in Halifax, not Dartmouth, or if you stay in one of the outer areas, like Sackville.. you'll have a good time. |
