German Exchange Gifts!?

Im going to germany in two weeks with my school. We are only going for a weeks and a half, but they said it was customary to get gifts (which i was planning on). I have a few ideas for what to get my host sister whom is 15, but i dont have any ideas as to what to get for the whole family. Theres nothing strictly american which gives me this problem. I am going to bring them some of the foods, that everyone says that they will enjoy but i dont really consider that a gift. She lives with her two parents and has an older brother. Any suggestions?

Germans love flowers. How about unique flower pots.

Usually you bring some nice flowers for the housewife, but nobody exspects, that you bring 3 roses from Tombestone, ar to Neuharlingersiel, lower Saxony. But when you leave buy some flowers for the wife and say Dankeschoen, and if you are at home again, write a letter saying thx, not an e-mail!!!
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

Why don't you bring them a book about your home town? That's a nice gift in my opinion.

@icanbake: We do have Oreos in Germany...not sure when we started having them, but we do!!! We also have Reese's Peanutbutter Cups at some of the gas stations, not all of them.

Too bad we don't have Reese's Pieces, I love them!!!

When i was on an exchange trip to Germany I brought a souvenir from the local attraction in my city. I also brought an American made candle and oreos.
Germans love Oreos, they don't have them over there.
They have nothing like it there and they will enjoy them a lot!

Make sure you eat tons of Prinzen Rolle cookies. They are the best!
