Has anyone been to Hamberg and what is it like?

Hi. I am due to go to Hamberg with work. Just wondering if anyone has been there and what is it like?

I believe you mean Hamburg, because Hamberg is a famous clock and watch company in Germany, but Hamburg is a huge city and German district up north. Here is the link for you to take a look yourself:

Hamburg's facilities range from the Kunsthalle Art Museum and the State Opera to music clubs on the Reeperbahn.

Hamburg ReeperbahnHamburg's facilities range from the Kunsthalle Art Museum and the State Opera to music clubs on the Reeperbahn.

Hamburg boasts 31 theatres, 6 music halls, 10 cabarets and 50 state and private museums. Of the 4,000 restaurants, 2,400 offer foreign cuisine.

The banks of the Elbe and the Alster rivers are ideal for a stroll. The port sight-seeing trips are impressive and they offer a special perspective on the panorama of Hamburg.

Right in the heart of the city, there is a large lake: the Alster. A boat tour on the Alster ends up in the city centre, where you can go shopping or relax in a street caf茅. And Hamburg's modern underground trains and buses will take you anywhere fast, for a small fare.

The area around Hamburg is especially delightful. The fruit-growing area of the "Altes Land" with its old farmhouses is especially suited for excursions by bus or on bicycle. The historic old towns of Stade and Luneburg can be reached in half an hour. And a trip to L眉beck or the beach on the Baltic Sea takes only one hour by car.

A great town. If you like fish, that's the place to have a meal with fish in it. Check out the Reeperbahn (red light and night club district). It's a very cosmopolitan place.

redneckgirl gave good info! If you do mean Hamburg(in north Germany) I can only add it is a fun city! But, bring warm clothes as it be chilly sometimes(even in the summer). You may want to verify which city you will be working in; for example there is a Homburg in the Saarland.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
