Motion sickness?

Motion sickness?

Did you want to know how to treat motion sickness or how to prevent it? And will you be at sea, in a plane, car, etc.?

Motion sickness is a very common disturbance of the inner ear that is caused by repeated motion such as from the swell of the sea, the movement of a car, the motion of a plane in turbulent air, etc. In the inner ear (which is also called the labyrinth), motion sickness affects the sense of balance and equilibrium and, hence, the sense of spatial orientation.

On a boat , try to stay on deck if possible in fresh air. Stay toward the stern of the boat where the motion will be less. Keep your eyes on the horizon, not the water. Try to keep busy if you can.

There are good medications you can take to prevent motion sickness and even to stop it after it has started. Many people swear by ginger as a preventative measure. Here are a couple of links that should help you. Best of luck.

I always say I get seasick in the bathtub, but we love to travel, so I've never let it stop me! I've tried a number of things depending on how we're traveling and what we're doing. Here's our page on motion sickness.... http://www.mousetourstravels.com/travel-... you can see some of the options.
