While traveling cross-country, what is a good way to let all your friends know that you are fine??

Let's say that you started out in Indiana and made it to Oklahoma, hypothetically...and were getting ready to hit the road again on your way to Arizona...what would be the best method of communication??

Text them or just call them on your cell.
If you spend the night at a motel or hotel, most of them have computer access in the lobby for visitors to log on and use
for their personal business so you could email them.
