Hawaii For a Holiday?

I fancy going to Hawaii this year for my holidays, can anybody recomend the best place to go to and stay, and what is the best time of year to travel there.

It really depends on you. Best time? Hawaii has great weather year round. However, the winter months are rainy and we get high surf on the North and Leeward coasts during that time. My favorite time of year is late September or early October.

Oahu - the first place most people go. Oahu has nightlife, all the touristy type of activities, Waikiki, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center, tons of restaurants and hotels. If you want to play all day and night, Oahu might be the right island for you. Most people stay in Waikiki, at least their first time here; however, there are lots of other places. Ko'Olina has a nice resort (Marriott) with 4 lagoons and good snorkeling just up the road - not much to do after dark. Turtle Bay is the largest North Shore resort.

If you would like peace and quiet, great beaches, lots of room to roam, the Big Island might be for you. The island of Hawaii has some of the touristy stuff to do, but not as much as Oahu. Great diving and snorkeling. Black sand beaches. Volcanoes.

Maui is more laid back than Oahu, and has a nice blend of Oahu and the Big Island. Lots to do, but quieter. Good beaches. Good diving and snorkeling.

Kauai is VERY laid back. If you just want to veg at the beach all day, experience gorgeous scenery, and lots of rain, try Kauai.

When you're here, take advantage of inter-island travel. Make your home base on one of the islands and fly over to another island for the day or two. The Super Ferry is limping along between Oahu and Maui, but has had many problems and people have been stranded with their cars from time to time, so I would not go that route.

Have fun. Just remember, you're on Hawaii. We live a life that is quite a bit slower than on the mainland. While you're here, drive Aloha, and relax, enjoy!

Consider going on a cruise ship that stops at several ports. Best place is a matter of opinion-some islands are quiet and peaceful, and others are full of night life. Time of year dosen't matter-I asked a local there if it was spring there like it was back home and he said itdosen't matter-temperature is about mid 80's all year.

I stayed at the Halekalani on Waikiki Beach. Amazing hotel and probably one of the best locations on Oahu, but I must say that I was quite disappointed with the Island as a whole- not the paradise I had envisaged. I went at Christamas and weather was fantastic- hot and dry.

Hawaii is great I stayed at the Waikiki resort hotel - a top hotel best in Waikiki, I reconmend you go to Kauai as well its a very beautiful island Have Fun!!!!

I live in HAwaii, on the island of Oahu to be exact. And the best Hotel here is the Kahala Mandarin. But of course being the best it is also the most expensive. But you asked for the best place. So there you have it.....WHile you are here you should check out........Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park....Super fun....Sea Life Park Located near the famous Sandy Beach.....Best time of year, Well summer of course! Hit the great beaches and soak up the warm sun, head down to the North Shore in Haleiwa....Oh and its pronounced.....
HA-LEi-E-VA....Anyway head down there and catch a HUGE surfing competition. FAMOUS. North SHore is known for the major Surfing competition's.....While you're down there check out Sugoi's....they have good chicken.....then get what Hawaii is known for, SHave ice....At Matsumoto's SHave ice........You can also head down to Hawaii Kai at the Koko Marina Shopping center where they have Banana Boating and Jet ski's.....GOtta try that!! One more thing, Go to Hanauma Bay and Snorkel!! IT's great!!

-Hope I helped you, ENjoy your stay.

When you go to Hawaii, go to MAUI. Maui is the most gorgeous place I have ever seen in my life.

I've been to Hawaii several times. I love each island for each of their differences. You should definitely contact my travel guy, Jason (link below). I know he has a ton of experience with planning Hawaii vacations. He'll give you the breakdowns on all the islands and the major differences. He has international clients, so if you're not in the US, he can still help.

Have fun!

Any time of the year is best for all travelers!!
