Urban living in Houston?

Looking to move from Austin. Would love to find a 2/2 or 3/2 loft-style place or townhouse with a small yard for dogs. What part of Houston would be a nice walkable neighborhood with restaurant, shops, theater, and single people? I work from home so commuting isn't an issue.

If you dont mind a predominately gay population then Montrose may be for you, they have some great townhomes, walkups, and cool lofts close to dining, bars, lounges, dog parks, shopping, coffee houses and gyms. You may try midtown, its the cool hip place to live, also tons of townhomes, apartments and lofts (take a look at the Post Lofts--I lived there for 2 years and loved it!) and there are TON of people around there that waled their dogs--its also has shopping, bars, and dining within walking distance. Downtown is a nightmare, and although they have some cool lofts, I wouldnt do it... Stay away from the suburbs, although it is nice, and relatively cheaper Urban Living it is not. Upper Kirby is also nice, Rice University and the Galleria....

If you are looking for a townhome, or condo or loft try this website, its wehre I found the majority of the places I lived:

to rent or to lease

Downtown Houston is building like crazy. There is a wide variety of lofts and townhouses available. You should contact a realtor that specilizes in downtown properties and make a trip to tour the area.

I'm from Humble, around the Houston area...i have to say that it's turned into a pretty nasty scene..Houston just isn't what it used to be...overrun by illegals. :(

Yeah If you are looking to move to the Houston area you should. As for places to stay they are limitless. I would suggest the midtown area of Houston, then you could check the medical center area, or Bellaire, West University, and maybe parts of Katy. Houston is a really big place, there are many different parts to live. so you really have to make a choice. Good luck!!!!!!!!

I would pick Dallas over Houston any day.
