If you have a job in KC, MO, but live in Kansas, how do you do your state income taxes?

YOU HAVE TO PAY STATE TAXES IN BOTH STATES I LIVE IN KANSAS & WORK IN MISSOURI

I am not familiar with the US policy specifically, but it is probably where you LIVE rather than where you work... For example, if you work in another country but live in the US, you still file income taxes with the US... But again, I'm not certain...

You should be able to ask someone in your HR or Payroll department. You are not the only person in this type of situation.

You need to fill out both states tax forms - on the MO form will ask if you live in another state and you should get most of what the state returned - however you will pay to KS. - if this is your first time and are unsure - you might consider HR block or similar tax preparers

You will have to file with both states. The best thing to do since you are doing both states is to go to a tax preparer and have them do your taxes. That is the best way to do it since you have both states. I would not suggest doing it yourself because it will be time consuming on your part.

You actually have to file both Kansas and Missouri income taxes. I did this for years. It's a real pain. The only bonus is that Kansas credits you with some of the taxes you pay to Missouri. However, you're still out some extra cash.
