What are the summers like in kenya? |
What are the summers like in kenya? Kenya doesn't really have a summer. They have 2 rainy seasons. The heavy rains would fall into our fall season and can get very cold, especially at night (by very cold I mean 70 F). The light rains fall into our spring/summer season and can get cold in the morning. Nothing is ever too cold there, but you would think it was -10 F there by the way people dress. As for the heat, it does get a bit hot there, but I never found it to be uncomfortable. As a woman, I wore light tops and skirts, but again, I was never too hot. I would say for the months that I lived there (May-August) it was really comfortable. It never got hotter than 90 F, and never was too cold. Cold. Because Kenya lies below the equator, it's winter and summer are opposite to those in Europe. When it's summer in Europe, it's winter in Kenya and, of course, the other way around. I hope this is clear. Define summer. Kenya doesn't lie south of the Equator, it straddles the equator, which cuts it almost in half. Its always hot in the north so that lowest recorded temperatures are about 20 degrees centigrade, highest in the 40's while in the South temperatures are milder due to the heights. Along the coasts - oceanic and lakeside- high temperatures are the norm but not so high - low 30's at the highest. Nairobi, Naivasha, Nakuru - these are all highland areas so the temperature hovers around 24 degrees centigrade all year round. i was born and raised in kenya and kenya doesnt have "summer and winter" generaly u have the hot-dry and the hot-wet season the wet one is when they usually plant all their food and that is generaly between late march to about june and next couple of months are generally warn the coldest it gest is about 65-70 degrees and from abou november to january it is very very very hot hot. |
