I have a question about going somewhere?

My girlfriend is going to Africa and she wants me to go. I really want to but my parents and sisters and all my familly hate the idea of me going. By the time I am going Africa I am going to be 18 years old and I don't know what to do?? Any advice

I agree with Simone - it depends where in Africa you are going. Some places are EXTREMELY safe (far safer than the US or Europe) and others are pretty much no-go zones for someone who is only 18 and has never been to Africa.

If you're thinking of doing something like an organized safari to see animals and scenery or an organized volunteer trip, I can't see any reason at all that you shouldn't go. In general, Africa is very safe, as long as you have anti-malaria tablets.

But it's also normal for parents to worry about their kids. If you are going to finance the trip yourself, then I think ultimately it's your decision. But if you're trying to get your parents to pay, I think it's pretty much up to them. You can always go later in life, and I highly recommend that you do!

I've spent over 3 years in Africa in the past 10 years, visiting or living in about a dozen countries, and I can't recommend anywhere higher. My first trip was to Senegal on an organized Study Abroad program through my university when I was 20 years old. That's a great way to go for the first time.

You can go.The visit will really change your life.Try convincing your parents to let you go.I can give you ideas of some brilliant places you can go if you are interested. Its a safe place dont worry.Infact once yuo get there you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

You are really a momma's boy, all you want is to stay close to your dear Mother.

Babies don't leave their Mommas all alone... they gonna miss her and cry when they remember her.

Just stay at home

Just try to convince them. Anyway, its your life, and you are 18 years old, so they dont need to worry cos you can take care of yourself.

where exactly are you going? Africa is a whole continent.

if i was u, i would go, because it's true that going there is just magical... my bf lives there, and he is just lost in the mystic of it all. u will love it, that is if u have interest in going, if ur just gonna go cuz ur gf wants u too, then i dont know if ur gonna be all that willing... though u should really try to go. it would be even more fun for u and her, if the both of u go together... (sparkling beaches, and beautiful weather) plus its some what diverse...

if its about convincing ur parents, then u really gotta push it in their minds that u wanna go, and explain to them that ppl of all kinds go there, there is a greater risk of dying in a car accident here, then something happening if you go to africa... (but it depends where u r going in africa too) if u wanna go to kenya u will love it. and plus ppl r living there too... of course. so try hard if u really wanna go. if u dont then tell ur gf straight up...

o and btw i know how it is with parents and letting u go somewhere... trust me.. it aint all that easy, but u gotta keep showing them how badly u want it.

good luck.
