Kenyan violence?

Anyone with good information of what is happening in Kenya?

This website is really comprehensive.

http://www.alertnet.org/db/crisisprofile...

I hope things are getting better there its been horrific.
I saw this man being slaugtered the other day on the news which was awful in its self but what was worse was I felt he did it for the cameras

You'd be better off reading the papers. It's not very pretty. Basically after the most recent elections, a lot of the population thought they were rigged, so they reacted with violence. The ruling party have been in place for many years, and like Iraq, the feeling is that it favours a particular tribe (it probably does). Unfortunately the problems go back a long way to the days of British rule. The Brits chucked the Kikkuyu tribes and others off their lands and took them from them. When independence came in the 1960s, the Brits handed over to Kinyetu (a Kikkuyu) who gave plots of lands back to his tribespeople across Kenya.

He couldn't give the original land back as many of the whites stayed on their farms at that time, he alocated plots within other ethnic areas. When the elections voted him in again recently, people turned on their neighbours saying that they had never really belonged there. Hopefully it will get sorted, but it could equally spiral out of control and become another Angola, Rwanda etc etc etc....stupid really. But it becomes a case of well you killed my cousin, I'm killing you, then because he is killed, that man's brother kills his neighbour from a different tribe etc

Your best bet is probably the Foreign Office website or

www.bbc.co.uk/news

check out bbc news for details

Election rigging and sit-tight politicians is the gun powder that triggered off old wounds. We shall get over this problem in Africa and join the progressives sooner than later, if GREED and OIL LOOTING by the so-called advanced and super power nations allow it.
