Carcassonne, first week in August for three days - yes or no and why? About the date : early August may be very hot in Carcassonne ( over 30掳C / 86掳F), and air conditionning is not frequent in cheap or mid range hotels. Visiting the city or the countryside with hot weather may be very painfull and you'll keep a poor feeling of this nice area. (a couple of hours in one of the public swimming pools may compensate). If you go walking in the countryside , take enough water with you (At least 1.5 litre per person/day) .There are a few vipers (snakes) , but just stay on the path and watch where you put your feet. At the end of several hot days, you may also have a thunderstorm. dont no where is it Yes, because the walled city is well worth a visit and there is good wine in the region to go with the rich food. Carcassonne is one of the most wonderful town in France ! |
