How do I go to Bootle from Wigan by public transportation?

How do I go to Bootle from Wigan by public transportation?

not that much going on in Bootle? Why do you want to go?

Anyway =

3 steps:

take a train from Wigan to Liverpool Lime Street.

Walk from Lime Street to Central Station ( bout 5 mins )

then take a train from Central Station to Bootle ( the train destination is Southport, approximately every 15 mins.)

Depending on how long you want to take, you can either get the train to Lime St, and the 52/53/55 from Queen Square opposite the station to Bootle

Or get a bus from Wigan bus station to St Helens, the 10 to Liverpool and the above buses from Liverpool.

Bootle's OK!

Actually you can catch a train (there are about twelve per hour) from the Merseyrail station at Lime Street one stop along the Wirral Line Loop to Central Station then take the Northern Line Train to Bootle.

Probably no quicker than walking but why risk getting wet, windblown, trapped by roadworks etc.?
The incompetents running the Council is closing down the Henry Bohn Booksellers on the Lime Street Concourse (which is the only point of interest on the walk) and if you hold a Wigan to Bootle rail ticket you can pass through the manned section of the barriers at no extra cost.

Train to Southport and change for Bootle
Train to Lime Street, Lime Street to Moorfields (one stop) then Bootle
No idea which is the quickest
