Gulf of Mexico beach question?

Okay, I'm leaving for Florida very soon, I have a question about the gulf of mexico, the beach part :P,

My friend told me its very shallow, and there isnt really much waves..

Is that true? because Im going to be staying in a hotel next to the beach and I was just wondering, I'd like a beach with waves..but, its fine.

but is it really shallow and not have waves? or is my friend just an idiot?

It depends on what kind of waves that you are looking for. There is waves, but maybe not the best "surfing" waves. The deepness of the water just depends on how far out you go. The Gulf of Mexico is awesome, though. I think that it is the best beach in America. The sand is soft and white and tha water is warm. Ahh, I miss it just talking about it!

The Gulf Coast of Florida has the best beaches! Try Sanibel Island or Captiva Island for the greatest shell collecting Florida has to offer. Your friend must not be very knowledgeable about the Gulf Coast beaches.

If you are looking for surf... that is the wrong coast to be at.
There will be little to no waves.
As for the shallow part.. that depends on which beach you are at. If you post which beach you are going to, I can tell you more about it. I live in FL & it is safe to say I've been to almost all the beachs.
