I am going to Florida for memorial day weeked?

we are staying in fort lauderdale...right on the strip...any suggestions on good restaurants, clubs...etc.

It's not a particularly great place, but a drink at The Elbo Room (Las Olas & A1A) is a must. The World Famous Elbo Room was featured in that 1950s (60s?) classic film "Where the Boys Are" and has been in the same location with the same name for a good 50 years. Have your picture taken there.

The best deal in town is Happy Hour at the Mai-Kai. It's not right on "the strip" but it's worth the trip. The drink and food specials are out of this world. (The servers in skimpy sarongs are easy on the eyes too.) Make sure you order something with flames, either a drink or a dessert. Here is a link to the Mai-Kai. http://www.maikai.com/happyhour.htm

Also make sure to visit E Las Olas Blvd toward downtown with many clubs and restaurants and lots of unique shops. You can catch a trolley from the beach cheap or free. Le Bonne Crepe is surprisingly affordable and watching the chef prepare your crepe is a treat in itself.

Just a little further west, toward the Museum of Discovery and Science, are the more youth oriented clubs with hip-hop and other alternative music offerings. My favorite is the blues at Poor Richard's, Open Late for Your Listening and Drinking Pleasure.

Hang out around Las Olas Blvd and the beach.
