How long will take a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle from Munich?

Since I don't have much time I will take the first train from Munich @ 4:57 AM to arrive there @ 8:15. Stariting my visit to the castle what time should I should I be back in Munich approximatley? Tks!!

There is no train service to the castle that I know of. Die Bahn does run to F眉ssen, but the castle is in Hohenschwangau. You will need to take a bus from F眉ssen to Hohenschwangau.

According to Die Bahn website the train leaves 4:54 and you to Hohenschwangau at 8:13 with two changes. There is a 6:30 train and you get there at 8:47. It has only one change - from the train in F眉ssen to the bus to go to Hohenschwangau.

I doubt the Castle is open before 9:00 so why rush?

Travel time to the castel - if you take the 6:30 train is 2 hrs 17 minutes. Figure two or more hours for the visit, so it's about noon when you head back. There is a bus that leaves Hohenschwangau at 12:46 for the train station in F眉ssen. Another 2hrs 17 mins. So you could be back in Munich by 3:00

Why such a rush to get back to Munich. Enjoy the day. There is another castle - Hohenschwangau in the same town to visit. Also, I think, better decorated than Neuschwanstein. Hohenschwangau Castle is where Ludwig grew up.

Why kill yourself with all the rushing?

What the hell? You should probably ask Dracula about this one.

Walking - most likely several days.

Driving - not that far as I recall. The castle is not far from the north south audobon #5 and Munich is dead on the east/west audobon #6 (check a map). I would guess somewhere between 1-2 hours driving. Trains may take longer, as the castle is in a mountainous area and Munich is a large city spread out over many miles. It also depends on where in the city you start from.
