Anybody been to Murcia to a place called Las Palas..it's supposedly a small village?

what's there does anybody know, nearest town is Fuente Alamo, anybody clued up on that too? Am actually going to look at a house for sale (Los Ruices) and wondered if anybody knew much about the immediate area..maybe lived around there or something

I used to live in Puerto de mazarron and found the surrounding area of los Ruices a patchwork of orchards and small hamlets, not much in the way of shops except in Fuente ,Cartagena and Puerto de Mazarron/Mazarron,very quiet area but they are building the main road through ( may well be done by now) so a lot of traffic will be taken away from the main Puerto to Cartagena road, the area is surrounded by hills and gets very hot in June July and August,,

I used to live in Los canovas near fuente alamo, i think i viewed a house in las palas very quite area. Fuente Alamo is a really nice area very spanish although a few english have moved round there. The locals are very welcoming and friendly.

Fuente Alamo is a big pig-farming area. This means that some areas smell really bad on some days (depends which way the wind blows). There are also alot of flies in the summer.
It is not too far from Murcia and Cartagena which are fantastic bustling cities with fiestas, great restaurants and orange tree lined squares. However, Fuente Alamo is not that well communicated so you have to be prepared to drive along country roads / industrial estates to get to most places.
The locals are friendly in Fuente Alamo on the whole but there are not many shops or restaurants. I'm not sure about Las Palas though.
On the bright side, this area is famed for having around 350 days of sunshine a year and pretty clean air.
I would not personally buy in Fuente Alamo though.
