Murcia?whats it like.?

hi,the wife and i have been offered a week in murcia next may.to be honest we have not heard of it before tho we have been to benidorm.so what can we expect in the way of nightlife, beaches, ect.any info please.thanks

I used to live in Puerto da Mazarron in Murcia,,,,the city of Murcia is well inland and you would have to travel some distance to get to the coast,,but it is a very Spanish region with lots of unspoilt beaches and countryside,,better than the Costa's as it is still unknown,,it has been preserved as an exclusive Spanish holiday area bur is now slowly being overrun by the UK expats,,,,,it is still however well worth a visit....try Cartegena, Puerto de Mazarron and the other large towns around the area from Totana to San Javier region and the Mar Menor an inland area of water that has a very high salt content and you can float as you can in the Dead Sea,,,Just explore and enjoy

Murcia is a nice city
the coast of Murcia province is "Costa Calida"
a lovely part of Spain
it is called Spain's last secret
and it is

here is a site to look at enjoy
http://www.viva-murcia.com/

I'm sure if he reads this later he'll only be too 'happy' to accomodate you!

p.s. you might wanna take a bottle of rum just to be sure

I found it to be uninteresting compared to many other parts of Spain. Murcia province is more like little Britain. It is quite expensive compared to other parts of Spain especially in the Torrevieja / La Zenia area. Perhaps I麓ve been spoilt living in a rural mountainous area of Andalucia.

The beaches in Murcia are great, much better than those of Benidorm. It's full of tourist resorts, discos and everything that you need to have fun. The small villages near the coast are quite beautiful and Murcia city is a great town to visit. I've been twice in "La Manga del Mar Menor" that is a peninsula that divides the Mediterranean sea and the Menor Sea (an small an peaceful sea with was water). It's a great place to spend the holidays, but it can be expensive.
