What is the age limit to buy and drink alcohol in Amsterdam?

need to know this

I went to Amsterdam this summer and it was AMAZING!! I'm (22) over the age for where I am from, which is the US, but the drinking age in Amsterdam is 16 for beer and 18 for liquor. Enjoy it, its the best place in the world and we're going back again this up coming summer, I can't wait!!

The drinking age is 16 for most drinks. Hard liquor, however, requires you to be 18. Have fun there, it's a great city!
