Here in the UK we have DVLA, in the US they have DMV, but what is the equivalent in the Netherlands/Holland? |
I have just purchased an imported motorcycle and I would like to find out more of it's history by contacting them. Try the link below, its the site of the RDW, which is the dutch Rijksdienst voor wegverkeer or State service for roadvehicles. They are the ones handing out license plates and can track them. If I understand correctly, the DVLA has records of both drivers and vehicles, we don't have that in The Netherlands. We have the CBR but they only deal with driver's licenses. Older vehicles here are supposed to get tested every year (APK) but those tests are pretty basic and they hold no information about accidents that happened to it or anything like that, they only test if the vehicle is safe to be on the street. If you want to find out more about the history of your bike you need to ask the previous owner for service records and APK reports but if you've already bought the bike he/she is under no obligation to supply them. |
