I'm visiting Amsterdam for the first time during the first week in April.
Can anyone recommend a reasonable, inexpensive place to stay (hotel, studio rental, etc.) for three or four nights while I'm there? About 50-60 Euros/night would be fine. There is very little choice in Amsterdam hotels in that price range. You can check at: http://www.hotels.nl/. The ones available would be one star places away from the old town. You might want to consider a hostel such as: http://www.flyingpig.nl/. The one is the center of town is on Kalverstraat close to the train station and easy walking distance to Dam Square. It is a small period canal house property (only 6 rooms each with a private bathroom) located within an easy walk of the central station. I stayed there 3 years ago and it was great.

ps: the ally behind the hotel has a row of red light windows Have you looked yet? I have just spent 3 days of hell trying to find decent affordable accommodation!!! I went through all the hotel booking sites and it was a headache there are so many hotels,hostels and b&b's and the prices for some 1* hotels are the same a a 4*! I ended up booking with travel now .com and got an amazing deal on the hilton(the John Lennon/Yoko love in one), it's about a km from Dam square but after reading reviews in tripadvisor I left the more central hotels well alone.It cost 拢160.00 fri-sun fo our double room, being the valentines weekend it's great value. good luck. |
