Doing a report on the netherlands?

what is typical dress in the netherlands?

what are common sports played there?

It's pretty much been said, the fashion here is nothing spectacularly different. The winters are pretty mild here and the summers are not that hot, so you'll see some variation during the seasons. Some people will wear anything, even when it's pretty cold actually.

Kids still like to wear sneakers I think, even when they're not doing sports. For most people it's pretty common to wear some jeans and a shirt or a sweater. Women wear skirts too. Jeans are common now. In a few religious places women don't wear jeans, or they certainly wear a skirt to church.

About sports, soccer is certainly the number 1 national sport. I'm not sure why anyone said rugby...it's played here now but it's certainly not that popular as soccer. It used to be an English thing.

I agree with ice skating, holland always has a strong selection and it's also watched a lot. New from England is also darts, which is more popular now after van Barneveld's victories. I would certainly not forget K1 (kickboxing) It may not be watched by too many people, (im not sure) but certainly quite a few champions are from holland. (Bonjasky, Hoost, Schildt) If you want to make a comparison: Football, (the american type with a funny ball) baseball and basketball certainly arent too popular here, neither is nascar or indy car racing. If people watch racing, it's probably going to be F1 or even A1. Unfortunately the dutch drivers in f1 never became champions. Car racing in Holland has some devoted fans, but Im afraid the soccer fans outnumber them :)

Tennis is not doing bad here, we've had some players in the higher ranks.

Well, I hope that's enough. You can keep adding to the list, depending on how you define popular...

A typical Dress is the same like her in the US, Jeans, etc.
Volendam used to be a place where the traditional dress was worn, but there are not many women left who still wear their traditional costume on a daily basis. Most of the Volendam people stopped wearing costumes back in the sixties, sold their jewelry and changed over to modern clothes. On special days, regional costumes are still being worn.

I was there last week.Being from Ireland and after living in the US for a while too, the fashion sense is very similar, but I found that they seem to have a very stylish way of putting themselves together! Depending on where you are going, if it is a local bar/ restaurant for something to eat, Casual will do! Trainers don't seem to be worn anywhere on the streets though! Going for a evening meal you would wear something nice and comfortable like anywhere else. People there are about expressing who they are as an individual and big into this. So I would think that there is no specific dress!

Good luck!

Compared to the US people in the Netherlands tend to dress casual and the younger people seem to be somewhat stylish. Most work places dont have a rigid dress code like in the US either.
I've lived here almost a year and have only seen people wearing clogs a few times, and have not seen any tradiotional dutch clothing from long ago.
The sports here are soccer, ice skating and rugby.

Typical dress in the NL is casual, jeans, etc. There is a folkloric dress still worn in certain small towns like Spakenburg but you see it less and less. The main sport is soccer although american football and baseball are played and gaining in popularity. Ice skating is a big favorite too although we haven't had a good winter for years!

If you mean the traditional dress of the netherlands, every region has/ had his own. you can search
"klederdracht" (which is dutch for regional dress)
add for example "spakenburg" or "scheveningen" or "volendam" and see the difference.
there is a english site you can visit.
see below.

we wear casual clothing, do you mean the traditional clothes, like you see in Volendam??

we play soccer and there are a lot of people going wild for ice skating, especially "de elfstedentocht".....

Most people there are totally rich so they wear designer stuff like Gucci and Prada. But on average, people wear the same clothes we do. =]
