Why is weed legal in amsterdam?

Why is weed legal in amsterdam?

Because The Netherlands has what they call a 'gedoogbeleid'. It's translates as a toleration policy. The opposite would be a zero-tolerance policy.

Because there government is not a useless murdering food stamp trash,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,...

If you're talking about Cannibis, it is because that plant have some health benefits and some people confume it for health reasons, not for drug use.

Why not?

Its not legal in Amsterdam its just tolerated.

maybe the same is why prostitution is legal in Nevada, you either get weeded out or you get out weeded

Well probably the only place where they wander why smoking is legal and weed not

I guess because Holland has a very liberal policy concerning almost every aspect of human life that is forbidden in most other countries.

If it麓s a good policy or not that is a question each of us must figure out ourselves. I just know that many young lives have been lost over there due to the liberal drug dealing.

WEED IS LEGAL THERE? WOOO HOOO!!!!!!!! IM GOING TO AMSTERDAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... (=

yes it's legal. They even have cannibis museums. Almost every shop you go into, there will be a lighter with weed on it, or something to do with drugs.

I think because they are so free from preconception....

It's not legal, it is merely tolerated. The police allow the sale of weed and soft drugs, despite the fact that it is illegal there, because they focus their attention on the guys who deal with hard drugs like cocaine and heroine. Coffeeshops are allowed to continue to trade in soft drugs, but as soon as there is even a hint of a rumour that they're dealing in hard drugs (like cocaine or heroin), the police move in and shut them down within an hour.

Coffeeshop owners work closely with the Dutch police, far more closely than many people realise, because at the end of the day they are businessmen in what is a very lucrative but potentially dangerous market, and they need the police's help just as much as the police might need any information they are prepared to share. The police monitor coffeeshops very closely. It is in fact very very strict, and only recognised coffeeshops are permitted to sell soft drugs.

And by the way, NOT everything is legal in the Netherlands. Child prostitution and paedaphilia, for example, is not legal there.

It's not just tolerated in Amsterdam. But everywhere in the Netherlands. This way they can control the intake of drugs more.

Control and real help is the name of the game.
Everyone who goes to Amster to get ....up, he won't find an aspirin for a headache.True.

Why not?

IT'S NOT LEGAL, IT'S TOLERATED TO 5 grammes per person. the police can still confiscate your stash if they feel like. Weed can, legally only be smoked in coffeeshops and in the privacy of your own home.

Where do people get these idiotic ideas????

I love the Dutch.

They have the best bars, clubs, and despite smoking cannabis being legal, they still have time to learn English as a second language! xx

well, i was born in amsterdam and there was a big commotion going on there about this policy. the conclusion was that weed in amsterdam isn't legal it just simply is tolerated there.
