Is it legal to breastfeed in a public place in the Netherlands?

Could someone point me to the law in this matter in Dutch is OK.

Hi what I was looking for was is there any legal protection for a Breastfeeding monther in public. My Wife was in V&D (A department store) and was covered up but using a sofa on the childrens shoe dept and was asked to go to a toilet by a member of staff! they have no baby facilities other than a disabled toilet... I want to complain but I need to know the Law first.

I am not sure about the law in this, but it is common to use the toilet area, either the disabled, the ladies or the little hallway rather than any place in the store.

I would not sue if I were you, it will cost you a lot and you will be laughing stuff. You might send a letter to complain to the head of the store, but do not be surprised if they just say the staff handled as common in the company.

In a store, like in a private home, the owner is in charge, and if they do not want the people to take a seat in the store area for a longer time (or do not want breast feeding taking place in the store) they are in their right to ask you to move on.
They gave you an acceptable (in Dutch eyes) alternative.

I am surprised about there being a law and your interpretation of it, but as I am not a mother, I have not given a lot of thought about breastfeeding.

It's legal to breastfeed anywhere in Europe!
