Why do drunken Brits in Amsterdam make a lot of noise instead of being discreet?

Why do drunken Brits in Amsterdam make a lot of noise instead of being discreet?

Interesting game that you can play in Amsterdam if you have time to kill - "Spot the Brit"......

> Male,
> Aged 17-24
> Short-assed
> Ambling/stumbling around in a group of 4-5, drunk (or on the way to being, depending on the time of day)
> All talking/shouting at the top of their voice (cockney/scouser/brummie etc accents)
> Asking directions to "a cheap bar" or "a coffee shop" or "those red windows" EDIT, or of course shouting about how they are "gonna 'ave a laff" (especially for cicicici below!!!)

I have this down to a fine art now and can spot them from the other end of the street and usually try to take evasive actions in advance!

Because weak primitives need to be heard.

Because bing British and drunk goes hand in hand with being oud! We are aloud nation!

Some,Not all Brits are noisy,Most are quiet.

They are such an embarrassment!! Anyone would think they had never seen a naked woman before!

because we are some of the worse drunks in the world thats why! (true fact) .the UK has the biggest population of pissheads compared with any other nation (on average)

Look mate all the loud people aren't British - there are many people from this country that are discreet, they're just less noticable obviously. I think there's a certain type of person from this country for who a trip to amsterdam has become almost like a rite of passage. They're like children in a sweet shop - they cant quite believe there are so many drugs about, and its legal. Mix that with alcohol and sex - and they get a wee bit over excited. Anyway - have you done a survey of loud people in amsterdam? or could it be you're just generalising - based on the British's reputation proceeding them.

It seems that to have a good time you need to be seen and heard to be having a good time. It doesnt work for everybody thank God.

Because being discreet is boring :P

because they are loud brits?

Usually because they are silly little boys. However I have noticed in my travels to other places that it is not only the British. In the Far East, I have been ashamed to be European, as the Germans treat the locals as primitives, conveniently forgetting that without these people we would not have the figure 0 (naught) without which mathematics will not work. The British, and the Europeans are not the 'masters of the universe', and should show respect and consideration to other cultures.

Because BACK IN THE 70's AJAX beat down
liver pool 10-0!

Because discretion implies control of ones emotions and behaviour.
Being drunk leads to loss of control and behaviour.

This state is universal and can apply equally to drunks of all nations.
Being a bloody nuisance in any language is a pain to most people.

You should be thankful they don't go around shooting people like stone cold sober Americans.

Because British people take their drunken culture to another level when they travel to another country. They are exactly the same during the summer months in parts of Spain, Greece and Cyprus. Im a British man myself but I am quite the opposite. When I have been to Amsterdam I like to conduct myself in a normal way and so feel that I am in a position to criticize my fellow British for the shame that a minority of them bring upon our great land.

Cos they is having a laugh. Doesn't harm any one. Don't you ever have a laugh, well you are just boring
