Information about Amsterdam?help me please....?

Hallo, I'm an italian girl and In august I will go in Amsterdam, I sleep in Liberty hotel, its adresse is Singel 5, 1012. In the site of the hotel there aren't a lot of informations. I want to know if is in the centre of amsterdam or near the red light. In the site there is write that is near the central station. thanks and sorry for my horrible english.

It's pretty close the station and fairly central to most things. Dam square is just 5 minutes away. Amsterdam is a Wonderful city. Friendly people and a lot safer to walk around than many cities I have been to. You'll love the atmosphere.
Look at the google link below

Hey,

I'm Dutch but I'm not sure about the location of the hotel. Your best option is to use google earth, or any other mapping site on the internet and find your hotel online. It'll give its location as well as its surroudings.

If it's near the central station then you are basically in the heart of Amsterdam! the red light district is nearby but don't worry - it's not as bad as it sounds! all it is is girls in their underwear behind glass doors, nobody will bother you, it's not really a dangerous place to be. hope you have fun and don't get too stoned!

The main area of the red light district is in the Walletjes area (between Centraal Station and Nieuwenmarkt), and the other two, in Singel (between Raadhuistraat and Centraal Station) and de Pijp (behind the Rijksmuseum).

The hotel is in Singel, so it is possible that it is in the red light area. But the Dutch govt is cleaning up the area, so it may not be so bad or good, depending on what you fancy.

Amsterdam is a very compact city so you won't be too far from the Red Light District no matter where you are.

The locals call the Red Light District 'De Wallen', I don't know if this will help you.
