How do I volunteer in New Orleans for the Katrina Victims? |
I wish to go to Louisiana this spring break to help Katrina victims, I am 17 years old, a junior in high school. I know that they have groups that they send there on volunteer work, and I would like to be included. So if anyone knows how I can go about that, I would greatly appreciate it. Voluntourism I could be wrong, but, since my friend Sarah was allowed back to her home in July two years ago, I'm pretty sure New Orleans is pretty well cleaned up. check with your local red cross or call your local volunteer agency Definitely check out either Habitat for Humanity or the American Red Cross. This link (first posted by Traveler) lists volunteer opportunities in New Orleans: red cross and habitat for humanity are the 2 most popular ones .. just visit their website or call them for any info. Katrina happened over 2 years ago! Are there STILL groups going there? Maybe for Habitat for Humanity, or some group building homes. |
