How does Glasgow compare to Newcastle?

Regarding the nightlife? Is Glasgow "safe" despite its reputation i.e. can I go for a quiet night out and not expect trouble?

Newcastle and Glasgow are the 2 best cities in the UK for nightlife.
Despite having reputations for trouble in the past, both cities have overcome this to be very popular for revelers, and that is why both are popular with visitors from all over.
I have drank in Glasgow on many occasions and always enjoyed a friendly and hospitable atmosphere
I have lived in Newcastle all my life and so must vote it slightly ahead of my second favourite city

in Newcastle its best to always expect trouble, then it will be a bonus, if you stick to the clubs that have good security you might get the odd scuffle but otherwise you should be OK as police patrol the streets after dark. don't be afraid of Newcastle - we are harmless Gordie's :P

Glasgow and Newcastle both have rough reputations

Newcastle is better simply for the fact that it is not full of Scottish people.
