Winter Park Florida?

Hi, my fiance is planning on going to college in Winter Park Florida. We will be moving over the summer. I have been looking online at some apartments there and most of them are really expensive. What are the names of some places that are just outside Winter Park that might be cheaper?? Thanks

I live in Oviedo - I take it your fiance may be going to Rollins College (if so, GREAT school)!

I would say Oviedo is about a 20-30 minute drive to Rollins (tops) and the commute is easy. You could also try Casselberry which is only 10-15 minutes from Rollins as well as some areas of Winter Springs (on the Winter Park side). There are some reasonable apartments in Oviedo on Aloma (aka 426). One in particular is Loma VIsta (I believe that is the name of it).

I think Sanford is too far of a commute every day.

Good Luck!

I'm from there and your pretty much intrapped.. Orlando i'm sure you can find something cheap enough but it will most likely be a bad neighborhood. I would suggest ocoee but thats all the way down the East west expressway.. Try sandford?????! Maitland usually is pretty cheap! Good luck! I dont remember how far away oviedo is but they are expencive i would at least try there though

here is a link to a site all about the area which may help you. http://www.ci.winter-park.fl.us/2005/ apartments are getting dearer over there but i am sure you will find something suitable.

Good luck with it

Winter Park is a high class area I would move somewhere away from it but good distance away from Rollins if thats the college your talking about. Might as well live near the UCF area not that bad of a travel at least youll get cheaper apartments. The drive from UCF to Rollins or winter park is about 10-15 maybe 20 when its traffic on University blvd or depending where you are on University Blvd. See if there are any apt on that st that you like

Winter Park is Wedged between Maitland on the North Orlando on the South, Eatonville on the West and Unincorporated Orange County on the East. Casselberry, Fern Park, Goldenrod, Altamonte Springs, Winter Springs not too far out. Oviedo, Ocoee, Winter Garden are all 10 or more miles out and commuting here is expensive in time, gas and tolls.

I'd say that the apartments along Semoran Blvd in Winter Park are inline costwise w/the general area. I live in Maitland and I pay $935/mo for a 2/1 w/a $180 concession, so my rent should be at least $1115 on renewal, though I'm likely to leave the area. Have you ever seen the website apartmentratings.com? It can be informative.
Watch out for the cops and speedtraps in Winter Park. The cops around here are getting to be ornery pickarses about minor traffic infractions.. steep fines.
BTW, if you are thinking of moving w/Sean, who I read about in a prior question of yours, I suggest that you don't. The Orlando area is complex, citified, and not inexpensive. It is number 11 on the FBI list of dangerous cities. It doesn't have great sympathy or resources alotted for those in different forms of need.. especially if they aren't foreign.
