A customs question?

I'm in Japan and my cousin is really into the whole Samauri thing he wants me to bring him back an authentic sword. Will I be able to take it onto the plane in my baggage or will security remove it as it goesd through the x-ray machine?

A SWORD IS LIKE A GUN THEY WONT LET YOU ON THE PLAIN WITH IT, YOU WILL HAVE TO CHECK IT!!! YOU WILL NEED TO CALL THE AIRLINE AND FIND OUT WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO BEFORE YOU ARRIVE!!! OR FED EX OR U.P.S. IT!!!! GOOD LUCK
