Are liquids allowed in checked baggage?

Can you bring more then three ounces of liquid in checked baggage? I'm talking like shampoo bottles by the way. and also, do they like go through your stuff in the airport, and can they legally take anything? they wouldn't like mess up my things and go through my stuff?

Some of the above posters are just a bit confused (no offense to anyone).

1. Yes you can pack liquids in your checked baggage - just do so carefully or you'll have a mess.

2. Yes they can and do often (10% of all bags) go thru checked bags and sometimes make a mess.

3. They can and will take anything that is not allowed or is questionable in your checked bag.

4. If they have gone thru your bags you will find a pamphlet in your bag explaining that they checked it and listing the rules and why something may be missing.

5. This has happened to me many times over the past few years and although it is a pain in the neck ... I know it is for the overall safety of my flight and country so it's ok with me.

Yes, they can absolutely take anything they want if they feel it is a security risk.

They will not go through your things usually - just send it through the x-ray machine. They can randomly pull you aside for a full check of your bag - which WILL mess it up somewhat.

Yes, you can take up to 3 oz. of each liquids (trial size) - and only as many as will comfortable fit in a 1 quart size zip-loc baggie.

You can have liquids in your checked baggage but not too much. If they find you have 20 bottles of shampoo, TSA will get suspicious and make a fuss.
