What do you know about Real Estate in Panama?

It's overpriced as hell. They've had a real estate boom the last 5 years, and have been building a ton of units all over the place. I was down there in 98-99, and real estate was dirt cheap. Now it's sky high, especially in downtown Panama City in any nice area, or on the beaches. And watch out who you buy real estate from. Panama has more con artists per capita than any place I've ever been in the world. If you want anything afordable, it will have to be far away from Panama City, or in a slum. Boquete is also extremely expensive. Lots of euro expats there.

But I do like Panama, but the time to buy was 8-10 years ago. If you don't have a very trusted friend there to help you, or someone with many many verifiable referrals, then forget it. You will be conned. Best of luck.

I know that if you want to buy land then watch out for cons. They will sell you land that they don't have the title for.
