Advice on emigrating to Perth Australia?

I鈥檓 seriously thinking of emigrating to Australia from the UK and I think Perth would be an ideal place to live. What are the job prospects like for someone who works in IT (desktop 鈥?PC Support)?

Also, which are the best (but not the most expensive) areas to live in Perth?

Any advice is much appreciated - Thanks!

You will never look back. The Lifestyle is great and the IT game is booming. There is a large population of British emigrants equally spread between North and Southern Beaches, Areas within easy reach of the CBD are Waneroo in the north (middle income bracket) and Waikiki in the south, (South of Fremantle and also middle income bracket), If oyu are not keen on the Beach, then there are plenty of suburds in the Hills to the East and South of Perth. I suggest that you take a short term rent on a Flat/House and explore first. If you rush in and Buy, you might not chose the right area and will either be sick, or out of pocket having to move again. Rent, get a job, then chose to suit your lifestyle and location in respect of your work.
All the best in your move

thanks for your comments everyone + a great help Report It

Dude if your coming from UK, it will just be like moving to a sunnier england... there r sooo many poms here its not funny!! All my mates r english!!

Ok but as for jobs... mate WA is going thru a boom atm due to the massive mining sector, and because everyone is heading to the mines for the big dollars companies in the city are struggeling to find workers, and therefore r paying big bucks for once mediocre jobs. Have a look at www.careerone.com.au and www.seek.com.au and u should see whats available.

As to where to live.... the rent prices here r massive due to the mining boom, so ur prolly better off buying, even though its overly expensive too. Anywhere north of the river is good, but some suburbs i wouldnt bother looking at is anything between the towns of Cockburn, south to Rockingham. Anything south of rockingham is really nice, anything north of cockburn is pretty good too. Hope this helps

If you are seriously thinking of immigrating to Australia, then before you even start looking at places to live etc, go to the following site to begin the process - your prospects look likely, but until you actually start the process, you have no concept.

There are IT jobs going here. Sorry I can't answer more about that. As for an area, up north has LOADS of English. Seriously, where I live you can't walk down the street without hearing the English accent. I got this newspaper clipping where they were mostly located. Areas like, Woodvale, Connoly, and surrounds.
