Moving to Philadelphia.?

Which is the best school district and what would a single family 3-bed house cost in a decent neighborhood in that district. Please help.

If you are actually moving to the city of Philadlephia then you are screwed in term of public schools! They are horrible. You will have to get your kids into a magnet school or send them to private school. Seriously. Philly schools are a mess!

If you are looking to live in the suburbs, try the Main Line which is a bunch of well to do suburbs to the west along Rte. 30. Radnor school district is very good as are the Treddyfrin/Easttown schools just west of Radnor. Not sure how old your kids are, but Conestoga High School in Wayne is one of the best public high schools in the country! Cherry Hill, NJ also has good schools. A 3-BR house in Radnor will set you back at least $300k to $350k. Cherry Hill you could get a 3 BR for $275k to $300k, but their taxes are high.

Well, if you're moving to Philadelphia, then you would be in the Philadelphia School District. I taught in the district for 7 years and although there are probably some good schools within it, there aren't many. You would either have to send your children to Catholic school or move outside the city to find a good school district. I hear the Bensalem School District isn't great, either. Most 3 bedroom houses in good districts, say, Council Rock, for example, will cost at least $250K or more and the annual taxes can cost upwards of $4K a year.

bucks county is a better place to live then living in the city and the school there are good. you should check out school and which one is better for your kids before you sent them to one.
