How long will arizona's economy be really bad for?

Arizona's economy is still doing quite well! What is lacking is our real estate market, which effects only portions (although a large portion) of our local economy.

The good news is people are still moving to Arizona, and there are still plenty of jobs.

Look for the housing market to be back on track fully by early 2010, and all sectors of our economy will be golden.

Yeah, there are still plenty of jobs here, at least in Phoenix. It's just the housing market that crashed, but a lot of the houses that have their prices crashing are/were owned by people from out of state (Hi, California!).
The housing price slump will recover after a while. Maybe 5 years, but I doubt we'll see that boom again in this region. It's cyclical and it happened in the '80's.

As soon as the gas prices go down.

I didn't know it was bad? but hasn't the rest of the U.S. slowed down.
