Which is the best travel route from bangalore to pondicherry and what is the distance?

I wish the distance were only 276 Kms as mentioned by our friend Giriraj. Unfortunately, it is longer at about 317 Kms. depending on where you start in Bangalore and where you wish to end.

The route however is the same -
in short - NH 7 and then NH 66 from Krishnagiri.
