I'm moving to the portland area for school. what's the place like?

i'm actually going to live in vancouver, washington (right at the border).. what's the place like? i'm from hawaii, but now live in california... so i'm just curious..

It is a great place to live but the commute in from Vancouver can be frustrating. The city is very young and socially progressive. There are a lot of things to see and do. There are some of the best restaurants in the US the music scene is the best in the nation. The population is very educated so you can actually hold an intelligent conversation with most of the people that live here. It rains but you get used to it and its not that cold. It is similar to San Francisco in climate. There are lots of hiking, biking and camping opportunities. If you work in Washington state you will not pay income tax and if you shop in Oregon you will have no sales tax
