What area's come in second after the hawthorn dist as the most hippest?

Provide details and zipcode if you have it!
Thanks!

I have never heard that the Hawthorne district was the hippest. It's got a Hippy feel to it though. Lots of old vintage
clothing shops, antique shops and a coffee house and rest-
taurants, some jazz, and a little of everything for the casual
type of person.
I would recommend the area of the Park Blocks on the
SW side of Portland. It's culturally perfect for the people who
like to work and play downtown. Tho the rent will be higher.
Anyplace on the SE side of the city will be cheaper rent and
without much to offer, where Hawthorne is. It looks like a good place to just hang out, and watch the Sunday gawkers walk by.
When I think of Hawthorne, I think of scungy old buildings. There are old buildings in the Park Blocks area also, but they've been renovated and updated, and it's a pretty location, with all of the trees in the central park blocks. In either location you will have to venture further out to find big grocery stores. As there are only small markets available in the mid town areas of the city. Hawthorne is on the other side of the Willamette River and is not upscale. Old brick buildings of the 30's and 40s'. But it's all in what you like.
