What kind of place is Bend Oregon? |
Is there many former Californians living there now? Bend, Oregon is a "happening" kind of town (city), I would have to say that Yes, there are many "transplanted" Californians living there. I lived there for 15 years (from 1984-1999). At one time it was a small town named Farewell Bend. As the pioneers traveling the Oregon Trail would often split up from others they had traveled across the country with in the wagon trains, some heading southwest towards Tollgate(Sisters ,Oregon), West to the Willamette Valley, Northward to the Colombia River etc. The Deschutes River runs through Bend, and Mt. Bachelor is a great place to snow ski. Good weather, but it gets COLD in the winter. Central Oregon Community College is a fine college, so, nightlife is great, as is dining, dancing, breweries, shopping, music and art. It is only 3 hours from Portland, Salem, or Eugene, and 31/2 to the Oregon Coast. Check it out from your browser. family town............. |
