I'm Planning to go to Portugal for vacat'n. Is it Nice? Is it Costly?

I'm planning to go to Portugal for vacation soon. Maybe for spring break or the summer or in Febuary during winter recess. I was planning to go to Lisbon, then go to The Algarve to Lagos and Cape Sagres....can anyone suggest any other places to go to? Is it very expesive? Is it safe? When's the perfect time to go? Where are some great places to go visit?

I'm Brazilian, I speak Portuguese so I don't need to worry about language barriers...Please let me know....THANKS

OBRIGADO! :)

The only thing regretted about going to POrtugal was that couldn't speak the language, so you have a great start already!

The poeple were very nice to me when I tried to use my phrasebook, and mispronounced everything.

I loved touring around the Algarve, to all the little towns and villages, and the wonderful cliffs and views, and waves
I took a day trip up to Lisbon, and loved what I saw, and wished I had been able to spend a few days there.

I went in February, and it was a bit chilly for swimming, but we went for long walks on the beaches of the barrier islands of the coast from Faro. The locals say it is so crowded in th summer months, they go to their cottages on the islands.

There are some pictures of the Algarve areas here at

I also took a day trip to see Gibraltar - it's about a 5 hour drive each way, but I really enjoyed it

Have a great trip! I can hardly wait to go back to this lovely country!

I'm from ireland, portugal isn't far so a lot of people I know have gone there, i've herad nothing b ut good things about, it's meant to be a lovely place, I've been to spain, and it was ok, full of tourist from britain and ireland, portugal is more peaceful, and less tacky. I think it is a little expensive though or so i've heard especially since the dollar is way down against the euro at the moment .
Hope you have a good time! xx

Ola!

Portugal is beautiful, but it has some problems, for example: life cost (the tax is one of the highest of Europe), public transports don't work very well, among other problems.
Considering you are from Brazil I think you will find everything quite expensive. The low season (which is now up until the 1st or 2nd week of March) is cheaper, however in Spring prices will go up. The places I suggest besides Lisbon, Lagos, Sagres, are: Porto (my hometown), Braga, Viseu (beautiful), Aveiro (known as the Portuguese Venice, even though it has nothing in common with Venice), Coimbra, Geres (fantastic landscapes), Tomar (town founded by the templar knights) if you go to Tomar, make a diversion and visit 'Castelo de Almoroul' (beautiful!!!!), if you are very religious I also recommend a visit to Fatima, if you go to Viseu, try to visit the highest mountain in Portugal - Serra da Estrela, Evora is very historical and beautiful, as well as Reguengos de Monsaraz, it is a medieval village which stopped in time, if you can go to Berlengas (if you get seasick then forget it, because the trip itself is very turbulent) these islands have some flora and fauna which are unique in the world.(of course it isn't compared to Brazil's flora and fauna.)
Espero que isto te ajude.
Boa viagem e diverte-te

EDIT:
I forgot to mention something which I find quite important as you are Brazilian, people from the south of Portugal are quite unkind and rude (specially in Lisbon. And I am not saying this just because I am from Porto.) :o9

Lagos 茅 fant谩stico!

people from the south of Portugal are quite unkind and rude (specially in Lisbon.

Sinceramente... enfim. Regionalismo bacoco e ultrapassado. 脡 falso e ultrajante.

Visite o Ocean谩rio de Lisboa, vai adorar... sugest茫o.

Tomar tamb茅m 茅 muito belo.
O rio Douro tamb茅m 茅 belo, poder谩 ver as suas famosas paisagens.
