Why is the U.S press making out the demonstrations in serbia as anti democratic and being organised by thugs?

Don't they realise thier own country has opened pandora's box by supporting the illegal independence declaration of Kosovo? what do Russian think?

I watched 1.5 hours in evening on TV how serbs in live transmission burned embessies and it was cool show, never saw it...That is my thought.

thats America for you.

becuase the united states press is controlled by the united states goverment and it specializes in disinformation

US press is wrong. THose poor protesters in Serbia just set in fire embassies, loot shops, demolish McDOnalds, set small bombs, cross the boundary of Republic of Kosova illegaly etc. and are organized by the government.

i presume that you are from serbia. i'll tell you one thing. when the u.s. was bombing you to sh..t, you should've not given up. i am sure it was tough when the bombs were falling, but you should've stayed strong at any cost. the u.s. would have to intervene on the ground and they would've bogged down, same as the nazis bogged down in serbia back in the times of the ww ii (nazis did not expect it back then either). you, however, faltered and gave up and you are now living with the consequences of your decisions. if you do not fight for your land it can be taken away from you. what happened to you is very unfair indeed and i really feel sorry for you guys but this is life.

as to your question, you may call those demonstrators whatever you want, but the main thing is that it is not right to attack and burn foreign embassies. if you simply severed diplomatic ties with the U.S. and other countries that recognized Kosovo, I would respect that (actually I think that this is what you should have done), but attacking their embassies is just not right. also, even though you lost bigger Kosovo, you still have Mitrovitza, which is a part of it, and you should fight for Mitrovitza, not burn foreign embassies.

to the confused one: admittedly the media in the u.s. does not take direct orders from the government, but does it not take orders from the owners who may have interests with the government or at least may have strong political views that may have an adverse affect on the objectivity of its reporting.

Those who think the U-S press is controlled by the U-S government really don't understand the system here.

The U-S press and U-S government are almost enemies. The press think it's their duty to attack and expose every flaw in the government that they can. (Some could say it became fashionable in the Nixon years, but it actually dates back to Jefferson...perhaps earlier.)

They also hold an absurd power to destroy reputations, and that power has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

Because I was a member of the media for more than 25-years, I have very little respect for them and absolutely no trust in what they "report." But at least in America, they take no orders at all from the government.

As far as "illegal independance declaration," are ANY of them legal? America breaking away from England was illegal? Russia away from their Asian conquerers? Ukraine away from Russia? What would the difference be? The box has been opened many times; why would you think America opened it by applauding Kosovo?

(Actually, I think the Confederacy breaking away from the U-S was legal, but illegally supressed, but that's another story.)

welllllll they did set the U.S. embassy on fire......could be related somehow to the current media coverage.

just remember it was the Nazi u.s who killed 10 chinese diplomats when they bombed the chinese embasy in the serbian war,so the nazi;s got no rgiht to accuse anyone for anything!

I just watched CNN news and they are so kind speaking about the demonstraters and demolishers. That's Russia which is making all these untrue reports.

What exactly is so "illegal" about Kosovo's declaration of independence? Is it b/c your country doesn't support it, is that the only reason? Demonstrations are fine and acceptable. As soon as they turn to riots and property destruction a line is crossed. The protesters are no longer sympathizers of a cause but now conducting illegal activities. Protests can be democratic. Trying to coerce or itimidate your will w/force and violence is criminal.

The press here is free to print what they believe to be true. If you think that it is controlled by the gov't just think about the high percentage of negative coverage that Bush gets on a daily basis. If it was, there would be no such coverage.

Another way to look at matters - how would the Russian press cover the story if US protesters burned down the Russian embassy to protest Putin's actions to maintain post-presidency power through a puppet Presidency and a powerful Premier position? Would the Americans be "thugs and anti-democratic" in their eyes? Yes, yes the most certainly would.

Dude siberia is russia why everyone talks a bout siberia as a different country. Its a lie no body declairing any independence &if they r they r not actually going to do that.People say crap to get attintion. just watch and see.if iam wrong i own you 5$. ok?

We solved the problem there. Maybe you forgot that Serbia started this problem by using its regular army to ethnically cleanse Albanians from Kosovo. To prevent another Bosnia type genocide we got in there and stopped them. 9 years on, we are tired of policing these people so we let them declare independence and move on. If it weren't for America, Serbs would have cleansed Kosovo and you know it. Kosovar Albanians know it and that's why they are now fanatically pro-American.
