Where is the best place with in 1 hour of Sacramento CA to cloud or star watch?

So i feel like just getting away for a day and i want to know the best spot within an hour of Sacramento CA to cloud or star watch....... help me out people!

Sacramento is such a great place to live because we are just one hour from most anything you would like to do.
Just take a ride up to Folsom Lake for a QUICK adventure night ride and a beautiful evening of star gazing. Spend the day at Old Town walking & shopping, have a nice dinner and then up the road for the finale.
Go further up the road to Grass Valley, or go the opposite direction up Hwy 50 towards Placerville.
The only thing that keeps you from seeing the stars in all their glory is all the city lights. So, just go anywhere, where you are out in the open and away from the lights. Kick back and be ready to enjoy natures spectaular show !!

go up either interstate 50 or 80 into the hills and just find a good spot off the road.and go from there.

El Dorado County would be a great place to watch the clouds or stars. It's beautiful country and there are other things to do as well....wine tasting, dining, hiking, etc.
